Hip hop pioneers Run DMC have been announced as this year's Isle Of Wight festival headliners!

The music legends will join David Guetta as the final acts for Friday night's bill with performances from Arcade Fire and Rod Stewart at the annual event.

Run DMC's Joseph Simmons aka Rev Run shared his excitement about coming to the UK, saying: "We absolutely love playing in the UK, it’s always such a great reception."

"To be given the chance to play such an iconic UK festival is huge and we’re really looking forward to it!"

Singer-songwriter George Ezra, Indie group Bastille and Rag'n'Bone Man were also announced on Wednesday as additional performers for the yearly festival. Festival promoter John Giddings spoke on Run DMC joining the festival saying: "To have the world's first and most inspiring hip-hop group headlining alongside one of the world's biggest electronic DJs is fantastic."

Isle of Wight Festival 2017 will take place between June 8 and June 11 next year.
