Leon Haywood Passed Away

Late last night, R&B singer and legend Leon Haywood has passed away at the age of 74. The singer was best known for his 1975 single ‘I Want'a Do Something Freaky to You ‘and had other singles such as ‘Mellow’ ‘Strokin’ and ‘Keep It in The Family’ which were hits in the 60’s and 70’s. His work was sampled by numerous artists such as Aaliyah, 50 Cent, Redman, and J. Cole.

His most famous sample was his 1975 single ‘I Want'a Do Something Freaky to You,’ which was sampled in Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's ‘Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang.’ According to Associated Press, his godson gave the new that Haywood had passed while he slept. Haywood was a talented R&B singer in his own right and his name and legacy had been reborn later on through sampling so Leon Haywood would be dearly missed. You can listen to his classic hit ‘I Want’a Do Something Freaky to You’ and his sample in Dre and Snoop Dogg’s ‘Nuthin’ But A G Thang.’
