Kyla Opens Up About Drake Collaboration

The internet blew up following Drake’s release of ‘One Dance’ and ‘Pop Style’. After trending on twitter for over 48 hours, Drake’s new tracks have had fans excited for ‘Views from the 6’. The UK was especially surprised when Drake sampled British funky house artist Kyla. The hit song ‘Do you mind,’ produced by Crazy Cousinz was a hit back in 2008.

Drake revived the track in his new hit ‘One Dance,’ singer Kyla opened up in her latest interview about it stating “To be honest, I was really bad and kept putting them aside like ‘I’ll call later’. You know how it is, sometimes we’ve had things come in and they fall through at the last minute. When we phoned, the company said ‘a huge international star wants to sample your tune and they wanna have a meeting with you’. I was like ‘yeah ok, who? And when they said Drake I was like ‘yeah right. YEAH RIGHT!’ We signed papers and I still didn’t believe it. I had a feeling someone was gonna say to me ‘April Fools”
The singer mentioned that she ended up as a featured artist and not just a credited sample. “They wanted it to be a sample at first… then when we got on the phone and had chats, they were like ‘how would you like to be a feature instead?”

The singer who was taking a break from music after getting married and having a child, is getting back to music saying “when I got the call from Drake’s team, it was a perfect thing to set me off.”
