Kano Review: Made In The Manor Tour #TroxyKano

Last night Kano returned to his roots, the East End of London for the ‘Made In The Manor’ tour at the Troxy. It’s been over a decade since Kano’s debut release ‘Home Sweet Home’ and the sold out event was the perfect way to mark his highly anticipated return. Myself & the Queen of Grime, DJ Kaylee Kay headed down to the Troxy at 9pm for an unforgettable show. With grime becoming more mainstream than ever before, the audience reflected Kano’s diverse and ever growing fan base. The show kicked off with opening acts, DJ Skilliam Swiftabeater,  Dapz, Tempa, Jammz and Elijah who successfully hyped up the crowd for the grime veteran himself, Kano!

Kano opened the show with the words  “Welcome to the jungle” sending the entire venue into a frenzy. He proceeded to perform the Rustie produced track ‘Hail’, effortlessly riding the guitar & drum based instrumental with witty lyrics. Followed by his second release ‘New Banger’.  With the audience hanging on his every word, Kano slowed down the tempo with ‘T-Shirt Weather In The Manor’ taking the audience on a lyrical nostalgic summertime journey.  Sticking to the autobiographical theme, Kano went on to perform ‘Drinking In The West End’ which relates to each and every one of us at some point in our lives!!

Kano continued work his way through the ‘Made In The Manor’ album, performing ‘A Road Mans Hymn’, ‘Deep Blues’‘This Is England’ 'Endz' and more. One of the most popular tracks taken from the album is undoubtedly ‘3 Wheel Ups’ ft Wiley & Giggs and Kano did not disappoint! Within the first 5 seconds of the instrumental the entire crowd erupted, and those who where seated where all firmly on their feet, with their heads bopping and their hands in the air. As if Kano wasn’t enough, he went on to bring out a surprise guest… Giggs, who in his useful calm manor, effortlessly killed the beat! Speaking of surprise guests, Kano was also joined by another east London heavy weight, Ghetts who proceeded to hype the crowd, with his untouchable flow !

With the set coming to a close, it was only right that Kano performed one of the biggest tracks for 2016 ‘Garage Skank’, which resulted in multiple wheel ups and the ultimate mosh pit!

Kano successfully brought an evening of grime to the East End of London and united fans from all walks of life under one roof to share an unforgettable experience.  ‘Made In The Manor’ is the perfect reflection of grime, which has become one of the most exciting musical genres internationally!  Kano has created an all round outstanding autobiographical, nostalgic piece of work, whilst staying true to his original style with his conscious and relatable lyrics. Its fair to say Kano is back to stay, and remains at the top of his game!
