Jade Matthews Celebrates Kinks & Curls For World Afro Day

With more and more women of colour celebrating their natural hair, it's no wonder that someone has finally dedicated a whole day to our fabulous fros.

In the build up to World Afro Day on the 15th September, Jade Matthews sits down with the founder of the special day Michelle De Leon.

Inspired to start World Afro Day by her daughter's admiration and appreciation of her natural hair, Michelle was moved to create something that would encourage other young girls to feel exactly the same way.

“Young people's mental well-being is a top priority” says Michelle “And it's in all our interest to promote self-love and make young people, no matter what their hair type: curly, straight, wavy or coily, feel great about themselves.”

Kickstarting her very first World Afro day on Friday 15th September, The World Afro Day team are looking to raise over £79,000 at the launch event and set a RecordSetter World Record for the 'Largest Hair Education Lesson'.

Can they do it?

Don't miss the founder of World Afro Day on Jade Matthews in the Afternoons this Saturday 9th September from 1-4pm
