Childish Gambino Set To Play Simba In The Lion King

He's a musical genius, a Golden Globe award-winning actor and now Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover will be taking on our childhood favourite character 'Simba' in Disney's remake of The Lion King!

Director Jon Favreau announced the exciting news via Twitter with a famous line from the cult classic kids film, posting Gambino's picture with the caption: "I just can't wait to be king #Simba".

Favreau also announced that actor James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa' Simba's father, after voicing the original character in the animated version released in 1994. The live-action adaptation is set to take on a similar style to Favreau's previous film, last year's remake of 'The Jungle Book'.

Donald Glover, who also goes by his stage name Childish Gambino, currently stars in his Golden-Globe award-winning drama series 'Atlanta' which he created and co-writes. Glover will also play a young Lando Calrissian in the new Han Solo movie which is set to be released next year.
