BET Awards 2017: The Recap

Kicking off the BET awards on Sunday, host Leslie Jones came out with nothing but laughter and joy. ‘I want joy in this house’. Nothing was left off limits as the SNL star, took jabs at new rappers and Amber Rose’s controversial Instagram post.

 

 

 

 

 

A full packed night with performances from Future with special surprise guest Kendrick Lamar, to Bruno Mars opening the show with his energetic performance of ‘Perm’ sticking to his catchy dance moves, and exciting lyrics.

Platinum blonde was a popular choice of hair colour that was proved to be a summer trend amongst, Cardi B, Tamar Braxton, Karruche and hair chameleon Blac Chyna.

 

 

 

 

The winners circle was filled with influential performers such as Migos who are doing it for the ‘Culture’. Beyoncé although not in attendance won five awards, tying with Bruno Mars for the top slot for video of the year. To Chance the Rapper being the youngest winner of the humanitarian award. Giving his inspirational acceptance speech of his love for his melanated peers. In addition to how great his God is. ‘My God doesn’t make mistakes. And I like to think he’s putting this enormous pressure on me to see how I act.

 

 

The underdog who scalped everyone, Remy Ma went home with the most talked about award given best female hip-hop artist. Nicki Minaj who has won seven times prior was not in attendance. In true winners style Remy had a few subliminal words for her rap opponent. ‘Y’all b*****s got fat while we starved, Shots in your a**, pads in your bras. Y’all some liars it ain’t no facts in your songs. And yeah that crown is coming back to the Bronx.

 

 

 

Mobb Depp member Prodigy who passed away, was honoured. Following his untimely and shocking death.
