2016 Billboard Music Awards Recap

The Billboard Music Awards kicked off on Sunday night, and we've got a recap of everything that went down. Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Britney Spears were just some of the names of artists who took to the stage to perform musical numbers during the night.




The Weeknd was the biggest winner of the night, taking home 8 awards: Top 100 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Streaming Song (Audio) and Top R&B Song. Durig his acceptance speech for Top 100 Artist, The Weeknd dedicated his speech to late musician Prince.



Britain was well represented with powerhouse singer Adele taking home 5 awards that night - Top Selling Song ('Hello'), Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album ('25') and Top Artist. 



Another big winner of the night was gospel singer Kirk Franklin, who took home 3 awards, meaning he won in every category he was nominated for - Top Gospel Song ('Wanna Be Happy?'), Top Gospel Album ('Losing My Religion') and Top Gospel Artist. Justin Bieber, Fetty Wap, Drake and Rihanna all took home on award each, with Rihanna taking one of the big prizes of the night, the Billboard Chart Achievement Award.


During the show, Adele premiered her latest music video 'Send My Love (To You New Lover)'
